Stony Brook SPS is but one chapter within SPS National: an AIP organization dedicated to helping students transform themselves into contributing members of the professional community. Membership in SPS National is $24 per year, with discounts for larger groups signing up at once. Benefits include (but are not limited to) a monthly Physics Today subscription, access to a multitude of scholarships, awards, and travel funds, and free membership with two AIP Member Societies as well as joint membership with the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) or the National Society of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP).
Sigma Pi Sigma is the national physics honor society housed within SPS National. Full eligibility requirements are sent out every spring, though membership is typically limited to juniors and seniors. Membership in Sigma Pi Sigma (which is lifetime) includes a one-year membership of SPS National and all the benefits that come with it.
